To each his own.... from an old VM'r.... and CP67 before that. If you need to be protected from yourself, then enjoy. You *do* make a good point but some of the protections can be just as annoying as the "are you sure you want to continue?" that windows puts up all the time. I started out in DOS, where there was no protection.... and one learns how to behave ones self or pay the consequences. On a system running more than one user, yes, it is a must to protect the system. On my own single user system? I've never had a problem.
