Is there an alternative way to keep using thunderbird with pop3, so as to not have to leave mail on google's servers?
Google has their own version of IMAP that keeps a separate "all messages" folder that keeps a copy of all your incoming messages in a folder that is not IMAP accessible so you have to login to really delete them. I'd be real surprised if they didn't do the same with POP3 and keep another copy somewhere to do the same with POP as they did with IMAP -- keep another copy that you have to login to delete manually. Don't ask me where it is with POP3 though, as I just know where it is with IMAP (*sigh*).
