I'll be do the same exercise this afternoon, we'll see how I fare.
Installation went fine - zypper in amarok, done. I can't get it to play a CD though. See attached.
I'm switching to Kaffeine, works out of the box. Although I'd like to figure out how to get an automatic playlist when a CD is inserted.
They are very different things. Kaffeine is a just a player.
I don't care. I just want to play my CDs. Amarok has sofar shown to be incapable of that.
If you just want to play CDs, Amarok is not the right tool for you.
I just tried to play a CD on 15.0, and it failed (I tried manual play), but wrote no error: it simply failed. I guess it is Bugzilla time.
Amarok does more:
s/more/less/ - Amarok very specifically does not play my CD :-)
Well, yes, but I never use Amarok to just play a CD.
