Kmail was used to receive the files in question as attached files. In Kmail they appear with correct æøå in the filenames, but when Kmail saves them to the disk, these chars get changed into question marks. Once corrected, OO will open them quite happily.

Don't worry, it happens. Sometimes I have a problem I can not solve, and I write to the list; and just before sending, I see the solution. Just writing it up in a clear form also clears the head. On other times the comments here, even if off-track, help thinking of the problem and finding the solution. So don't worry, it happens to us all :-) So you have problems with kmail file names in attachments... Same kmail version on both machines? I have seen problems with kmail, with the contents of the attachment, when sent as text instead of binary. With the filenames it must be a different problem. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
