I just upgraded to the Alsa 1.0.7 rpms on Suse 9.1, because it should support my Creative, SB Audigy LS sound card (according to the alsa driver developer). However, Yast2 still doesn't find or list this card. I also tried to run alsaconf in a terminal, but got the message: "No supported PnP or PCI card found".
However, using the Yast2 hardware info, this card is listed under the sections PCI and Sound as "Creative Multimedia audio controller". (and it works on the same multiboot PC on Win2k, so the hardware should be correct installed).
Is there something more that has to be done to get the sound card to work on Suse 9.1? (for example recompile the kernel or edit the /etc/modules for the correct settings for the card)

Check your BIOS settings to see if you have PnP OS=yes! If so, change it to NO and see if that helps in getting SuSE to see the card. How new of an install is your 9.1? A fresh install of 9.1 had some trouble with sound cards, but a YOU update managed to set things right. Usually you needed to remove the card and reinstall it through YaST2.

Updated to the lasted 9.1 with YOU and set BIOS to PnP OS=No However, no difference. No soundcard found with Yast2 Sound card. Haven't removed and reinstalled it yet.

The only 1.0.7 rpms I've found are on packman's site and I doubt they are compatible with what's in the kernel, there are no accompanying kernel modules either, i.e the driver. If you download the 1.0.7 driver from http://www.alsa-project.org/ and follow the INSTALL file, it should create the needed modules. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ....
