The option to add KNewsTicker is grayed out, apparently because I am already using it. Is there a way to run two instances on one user's desktop? We both use the same login, and I do not want to change that.

For those of you who want to add a second knewsticker, the author of KNewsTicker offered to me an unsupported hack, with one drawback. Evreytime you restart KNewsTicker (ie restart KDE, reboot) all of the news tickers will assume the settings of the last configured instance of KNewsTicker. Edit the knewsticker.desktop file found in /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/applets/, changing the line: X-KDE-UniqueApplet=true to: X-KDE-UniqueApplet=false It works as advertised. -James W.
