The sun license for java allows redistribution for the purpose of running a java program, provided the JRE accompanies said program. Since OO.org software and the JRE on on the dics, it seems to be within the scope the Sun's license. If there are any pieces of software on the discs that are not licensed for distribution, I am not aware of them. My personal opinion is that such software should not be included. SuSE seems to be very careful about not including software that would violate patents or license terms, such as MS fonts, CSS, Nvidia drivers, etc. Regards, Mark On Monday 31 May 2004 03:58 am, Carlos E. SuSE used to use the non-free Yast license to effectively prohibit distributing SuSE Linux "as a whole" (you could always distribute the gpl'd parts). With Yast now gpl'd, they can no longer do that. So now they are holding off on releasing the ftp version for month or so to encourage people to buy the cd.
But there are still non gpl parts on the dvd/cds - for example, java. Unless I'm mistaken, it is non redistributable.
