I think the reason why the say it's not free. Is because they think de boxed version is also openSuSE. Even tough it's called "SUSE(r) Linux 10.1". I don't think it's openSuSE. It's based on openSuSE with additional packages like: Also included in SUSE Linux 10.1 are proprietary software packages such as Adobe* Reader, RealPlayer*, Macromedia* Flash Player and Java*, plus a variety of features that simplify Windows-to-Linux migration. Users can replace their existing operating system with Linux or install Linux alongside it to experience Linux in a "trial" setting, without affecting their existing software installations.
SUSE Linux 10.1 = openSUSE 10.1 Is the same thing, the "GM" CDs are exactly the same ones you found in the BOX, you can found there real player, java, etc. Here you can download Suse Linux 10.1 for free ( gratis ): http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/iso/ You can download from here the DVD with full non-free software but completely gratis. http://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-dvd-iso/ What you buy with the box is not the software, but the media and the support. What is different is the _Novell enterprise_ version " SUSE Linux Enterprise 10", wish is based on Suse Linux 10.1 -- Marcel Mourguiart --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
