First of all, I have a confession to make.
[SNIP] An impressive change :)
Under SuSe 6.3 I could connect a remote X server from an NT workstation box to the Linux box quite happily. Now since I've installed 6.4, I don't seem to be able to get a connection.
I have checked /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xaccess and there is nothing wrong there (there are no nasty '!' characters anywhere in sight). Comms between the Linux box and the NT is OK as ping, samba and Squid are all working fine between the two. Has the security of X been beefed up by SuSe in 6.4 ? Any ideas on where to look to fix this problem. I've looked in my /var/log/messages for ipchains DENY messages in case the ports are blocked but there are none there. It is really a pain having to plug and unplug my monitor all the time, having an X server on my NT box (my the way, I have to run NT on my workstation PC for earning a living reasons) is so much easier.
Have a look at /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/README.security , this should give you a hint. Good luck!
