I have the same problem. Every once in a while when I reboot, the mouse doesn't work. I have to turn off the machine, unplug it and restart it before the mouse is seen. Even then 30% of the time it still doesn't work. This is with a USB Kensington optical mouse, SuSE 8.2 on ASUS A7V8X motherboard. It is annoying but so is filling out tax forms.
.... puuuuuuuleeeeeeeeze!!!!! y'all have to say what the interface of the mouse *IS*: usb, serial, ps/2 ... . -- /// Michael J.
