Can anyone explain what this "pending" status means? I've restarted cups once or twice, but every printjob we send ends up in "pending" status.
Maybe. It seems to me, to occur on on my system, when the print queue manager ask the printer "can you print this?" and the printer says "no".
"Obviously" that will occur with "out of paper", but it seems also to occur when I (mistakenly) ask it to print A4 when it has only 'Letter' loaded. Perhaps my printer has to much smarts :-(
Usually a job will just wake up the printer and ask to have the right kind of paper fed in :-)
Personally I think that a generic print system has problems with overly smart printers.
Is there a 'lpstat' option that tell what the message from the printer actually was? Will CUPS handle that?
OBTW Per, what is this printer?
