Internet Web is slow to load, with my testing stopped. This is a powerful machine. I have fast fibre.
None of that matters if the switch is poor.
Nono. The switch is good. TP-Link TL_SG1016DE
Hmm, in my experience, TP-link is sh*te. I have only had trouble with my TP-Link access points. (three of them).
The router is CRAP (Mitrastar HGW-2501GN). Don't blame the switches.
Given your interface stats, I suggest that is at most a guess.
Just working with its config web page, you notice things that fail to work.
Yeah that does give one a bad impression, but it doesn't necessarily mean the tcp stack is also bad.
Isengard:
2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 link/ether 4c:cc:6a:61:50:a1 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff RX: bytes packets errors dropped missed mcast 23406734220 16321239 0 5700 9849 79742
First impression - that's a _lot_ dropped and missed.
Told you.
You did? when your machine is dropping packets, either there is a problem with that machine or your network is overloaded. I have no idea what "missed" means.
telcontar:
2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 link/ether 00:d8:61:a1:5a:bd brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff RX: bytes packets errors dropped missed mcast 1713292131 5141166 0 2838 0 73508
Also seems like a lot.
The difference is that the ping test runs on Isengard. Telcontar is the desktop machine.
Well, if it were me, I would investigate - those numbers seem way too high. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.7°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes
