Hello, I tried yesterday to install OpenSuSE10-Beta on my box. First I found a problem with parted. This program was not able to read the partition-table of my pc. I am not able to put a new partition on hdb. I had to do this with Yast/parted from 9.3 (on the same box). Later - after the first installation of 10.0 on the box - there are problems with grub (from 10.0). I am not able to start 9.3 again and run into a kernel-panic short after the start (root-partition of 9.3). I tried to fix this problem with the repair-modus of 9.3. But there was no change. I run again in this trouble. Only a full update of 9.3 with installing grub of this distri fixed the problem. I think, OpenSuSE had made some changes on the root-partition of 9.3 or there are a problem with grub (10.0). My box is a AMD64-3000 with two harddisks, 512MB Memory, Asus K8N-Board. --------snipp --------------------------------------------------- Fstab of 9.3: /dev/hda2 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/hda3 /boot ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/hdb12 /data1 auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hdb13 /data2 auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hdb14 /data3 auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hdb15 /data4 auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hdb16 /data5 auto noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hdb6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda9 /local ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdb8 /local2 ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdb11 /local3 ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdb5 /opt ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/hdb10 /usr ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/hda8 /var ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/hda1 /windows/C ntfs ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8 0 0 /dev/hda5 /windows/D vfat users,gid=users,umask=0002,utf8=true 0 0 /dev/hda6 /windows/E vfat users,gid=users,umask=0002,utf8=true 0 0 /dev/hdb7 /work ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda7 swap swap pri=42 0 0 /dev/hdb9 swap swap pri=42 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/dvd /media/dvd subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs noauto,fs=floppyfss,procuid,nodev,nosuid,sync 0 0 /dev/hdb17 /data6 auto noauto,user 0 0 -----------------------snap -------------------------------------- On the partition with data 1 - 5 are a SuSE 9.2.
