Sun Java Desktop is based roughly on SUSE, but distributed by Sun. THey stuck with the "Java" name, since most people recognize that - has nothing to do with the distribution though. I think it's like $50 - $100/year subscription, depending on whether you're an individual or business. When I loaded the demo, it looked really glitzy (graphically), but since I didn't put much effort into it, I have no idea how good a setup it is. It should be pretty decent. If you don't like Sun, you might shun it, but since it is based on SUSE, I'd say it's a contender for your situation. ;) Don ---------- Original Message ------------- Subject: Re: [SLE] Linux computer hunt Date: Sun, 05 Sep 2004 14:28:16 -0500 From: marcia <raknakce@cox-internet.com> To: PeterB@vancampen.org Peter B Van Campen wrote:

Dear All,
Dell has a sale but I do not know if that is good for someone who wants both windows and linux. I do not think they install a dual boot system, either. Is Dell support really that great or would the support from this ibexpc site be just as good?
Does the Dell all in one printer work in Linux?
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
Thank you for the help.
Sincerely,
Marcia

Thank you for the great suggestions. I checked out Walmart and all I could find was Lindows , no os, windows, and the Java Sun Desktop which I never heard of until last night. Does anyone know about the Java Sun Desktop? I could not find Suse anywhere even with a search. Does anyone know how to find the Suse computers at Walmart? Thanks for all of the help.
