Ahhhh Its working now I diddnt realise you had to control the volume from *another* mixer. The volume I was referring to (trying to use) was the horizontal bar in the middle of kscd. A side note... even when a cd is playing you still get that ridicolous message of "No matching cddb entry found" in my opinion the whole layout of the k menus *really* need some work to make it more/as intutive as windows On my KDE I have the big K icon a SuSE icon and yet *another K icon! all seem to have some tyes to "multimedia* most counter intutive and confusing, not to mention messy The fetchmail config is messy too!! you have all these widgets popping up all over the place. Considering fetchmail is the primeir program for getting mail I would think a more professional design I like Linux and especially SuSE but K desktop seems quite a way to go yet. thanks for your suggestion best regards rob Gudmund Areskoug wrote:

I can play system sounds and when I insert a music cd the counter on the cd increments.. and volume is up but no sound
which volume is up? Open Kmix (click on the speaker symbol) and check that the cd vol is up (should be 3d from right), not just the speaker vol. If both are up, it might be the cable from your cd to the sound card is not connected.
