Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this just listing the device? What is needed is to say: ls -l /mnt/cdrom or similar, depending on where the device is MOUNTED? JST
Here is the output when I give the command you suggested: neamcd@linux:~> ls -l /dev/cdrom lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Apr 24 11:23 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc
