Now, if I open 'My Computer', it displays the contents of the DVD fine under media:/hdc , so is there some weird automounting/unmounting going on that I'm not understanding?
Yeah, that's changed, but give it time, it will grow on you.
Hope so, I spend most of the time in a konsole terminal session, having to go to the desktop and open 'My Computer' to have the drive contents show up is a pain.... On the other stuff, adding the installation sources got me pwgen (must not be on the DVD ISO) and that allowed phpMyAdmin to be reinstalled. For pin, I went ahead and copied ARCHIVES.gz from the DVD to /var/lib/bin/ARCHIVES_10.1.gz and fixed the symlink ARCHIVES.gz to point to it. Seems to work fine now. Thanks! Other than these minor issues, the upgrade was pretty painless!
