Hi Catherine I'm not sure if this is your problem, but on my 10.1 boxes I found that if I used the "new" Network Manager to control the network card, NIS wouldn't bind to the servers on system boot. If I logged in as root and ran "rcypbind restart" the machine would then see the NIS servers. When I switched back to "classic" mode for NIC control, ypbind started working correctly. Hope this helps... Ken On Fri, 2006-07-07 at 12:52 +0100, Catherine wrote:
Hi everyone
I'm still working on this NIS set up, and while I have the master server set up, ypbind is not working. The main problem seems to be that the domain name will not stay set; I can set it for one session, but I don't where to alter to set it permanently.
TIA
