Thomas, I think we need more information about what you mean when you said "The shortcut winds up on the desktop alright - but not in the"transparent, movable area." How is your desktop configured? (Right click on the desktop and select Desktop Settings. Is your Desktop Activity set to "Desktop", "Folder View" or "Plain Desktop"? This setting makes a huge difference in the behavior of the KDE4 desktop.
Just newly installed SUSE 11.2 Desktop activity is set to "desktop". Originally the "Desktop folder" (that is what it says in its left upper corner) is a movable, transparent area ON the desktop. The shortcut I tried to copy INTO that area appeared on the "underlying" desktop, but not within the transparent area. These two items are not connected. AND and I made another very stupid mistake. I clicked on the "cashew" icon right upper corner it was and there poped up some dialog asking me, if I want to set the behavior of the various desktops to be different. I checked that option -- and the transparent "desktop" disappeared, so did my setting of "default blue" as wallpaper. Is there maybe a way I can reverse this setting? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
