Personally, if the process is so easy, I would prefer that they drop in the source tree, make the changes and compile it. THEN, release it. Since the 2.2 kernel is already out, and the process is so easy, how much longer would it take? Three or four hours, tops? Why make everyone else do that step? Who knows how many newbies and near-newbies mess it up, then generate a lot of complaints about SuSE, which I find to be an excellent example of German engineering.
I'm sure the CDs are already burned...release date on website says 'end of January' so I guess we'll see shipping next week? Maybe they'll put a 2.2 Kernel RPM on the ftp site, for 6.0 users to download, that way with the 'readiness' of 2.2 all people would have to do is use rpm to upgrade. It's been strangely quiet on the S.u.S.E. front lately...( or so it seems to me..) -M - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
