I have just installed 5.3 and haven't totally mastered the configuration. My kernel is set up with PPP and SLIP support, properly compiled and boots nominally. I see the messages about PPP and SLIP and nothing appears wrong. The modem is a Diamond Supra Express 336i PnP asvd. When I try to access the modem by checking my email (diald is installed...don't know yet how to configure it) I get nowhere. The generic mail client locks up and can't do a check, so I have to shut down the session and restart. When I use Kppp, it says my modem is busy. I WANT to be using xfMail but haven't installed it yet. I used YaST to set this thing up and believe it is all correctly done. I checked the Activate box (even tried leaving it unchecked) but I can't dial out. What can I do differently (read "correctly") ? Thanks.
