I haven't had to do that, only:
/usr/sbin/update-alternatives --install /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/default-displaymanager default-displaymanager /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/kdm3 15
I use kdm3 instead of kdm on multiple TW systems where I run Plasma (no Plasma on any Leap here).
Well, I made friends with update-alternatives for the default-displaymanager in 15 to set kdm3 as the default. The only caveat is if you already have a default-display manager, then you don't need the --install option, you need the --set option, e.g. # update-alternatives --set default-displaymanager /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/kdm3 Then a logout/login and kdm3 was the default and I had the advanced shutdown options in the rt-click context menu :p -- David C.
