Hello Everyone, I would like to update my i2c and lm_sensors to v2.6 by making rpm's from tarballs on 7.2 Prof full install. This is my first attempt at tarball -> rpm. Firstly, I notice i2c files in /usr/src/linux-2.4.4.SuSE/drivers/i2c so should I be attempting this upgrade ? Secondly, what is the relationship between the "sensors" package (v1.3) in SuSE and "lm_sensors". I have tried the i2c rpm creation and the error messages have me puzzled. I have downloaded the tarball indicated for SuSE, placed the correct spec file in /usr/src/packages/SPECS and tarball in /usr/src/packages/SOURCES, as per README. I edited the spec file to reflect my kernel version and i2c version as per README. Running rpm -bb 12c.spec from /usr/src/packages/spec resulted in the following: - the files are extracted from the tarball into /usr/src/packages/BUILD/i2c-2.6.0 - the following errors are the first of many ... + STATUS=0 + '[' 0 -ne 0 ']' + cd i2c-2.6.0 ++ /usr/bin/id -u + '[' 0 = 0 ']' + /bin/chown -Rhf root . ++ /usr/bin/id -u + '[' 0 = 0 ']' + /bin/chgrp -Rhf root . + /bin/chmod -Rf a+rX,g-w,o-w . + exit 0 Executing(%build): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.78366 shell-init: could not get current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent direct ories: No such file or directory + umask 022 + cd /usr/src/packages/BUILD chdir: could not get current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories : No such file or directory + cd i2c-2.6.0 + make -j4 Makefile:174: kernel/i2c-core.d: No such file or directory . ... repeated for files already in /usr/src/packages/BUILD/i2c-2.6.0 ?? I have no clue about the shell-init: error. I am confused by the Makefile:174 ... error as all the files that it is looking for are in /usr/src/packages/Build/i2c-2.6.0 A new learning curve - I will appreciate any assistance.
