Hi - sorry if this one has been seen here already, I just subscribed. I thing I am getting the mtrr error (from kernel module mtrr.c, and it's a new bit of coding) whenever I try and start X11 (kde) up. There are a load of DCOP errors that also hit at the same time. AMD K6-II 500 nVidia NV5 [RIVA TNT2 or TNT2 Pro] I am using the open-source drivers for the nVidia, not the binary-only ones that can be downloaded from their website. After one or two of these messages, the system hangs completely and must be reset. An extremely unpleasant side-effect is that my /var partition then needs treating with reiserfsck. The problem did not exist under 8.2, although that particular machine is normally my windoze machine so it does not get to run under linux much. Any clues? It looks to me like a kernel bug :-( -- opinions personal, facts suspect. http://home.arcor.de/36bit/samba.html
