I make a daily backup, but is something goes wrong and unnoticed, the recovery will be bad. This is only for fast recovery after a major crash (the data is essentiallmy backed up elsewhere in addition)

I backed up to a USB drive that I can boot, and have a computer running on it. Everything appears correct except emacs, and I forgot how I fixed it on the first machine. Should make notes! But I tested it by running it on another identical computer, best test I could think of. So I am happy with it. I agree that I do not know how to make a complete test, but it runs and all of the programs I load.
