Hi David,
I wonder why don't you use /etc/modules.conf to do the job? It works for me for the AverMedia TV98 card.

I have this in /etc/modules.conf: # TV alias char-major-81 bttv options bttv card=10 pll=1 vidmem=0xa80 post-install bttv /sbin/modprobe "-k" "msp3400" post-install bttv /sbin/modprobe "-k" "tuner" post-remove bttv /sbin/modprobe "-r" "msp3400" post-remove bttv /sbin/modprobe "-r" "tuner" but it doesn't work. When I try to start kwintv I get this: david@linuxpc:~ > kwintv can't open /dev/video: No such device Warning: kwintv: kv4lsetup had some trouble, trying to continue anyway. Debug: v4l1: Using interface Video4Linux in ::v4lxif Fatal: v4lx: Error opening v4lx device /dev/video: No such device in ::v4lxif When I have run the script /usr/doc/packages/bttv/tools/update, kwintv starts without problems: I hope you are able to deduct something from this. Thanks for the answer.
