Dan, Having seen the same problems on my Tecra8100: The fix for the mouse going crazy is mentioned on the SuSE support web: http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/wessels_sax247.html which says add the following line to /etc/init.d/boot.local: /usr/sbin/sysp -s mouse > /dev/null Haven't experienced any mouse problems since... The Suspend-> Resume works, even though it reports a fatal error with the sound server. But when I shut down afterwards it causes my display to show two screens. I don't know how to describe it in words, so I use the following HighRes graphic: +---------------------------------+ | | | |Shutdown statement 1 |Shutdown| | |Shutdown statement 2 |Shutdown| | |aaaa |aaaa | | |bbbbbb |bbbbbb | | |ccccccc |ccccccc | | |ddd |ddd | | |eeeeeeee |eeeeeeee| | |..... |..... | | | +---------------------------------+ Not that it matters, but it's obvious that the Yamaha sound driver and the Suspend-> Resume really mixes things up and I'm not happy with that. /Henrik -----Original Message----- From: Dan Pauls [mailto:danpauls@earthlink.net] Sent: 15. joulukuuta 2002 16:20 To: SuSE Subject: [SLE] SuSE 8.1 + Toshiba Tecra 8100 = Sound Bug? There was a thread on this about a month ago but it ended without a good fix. YAST2 recognizes and sets up the sound card without complaint, but sound card only produces "static". Booting with ACPI=OFF and doing a "Suspend" (from KDE laptop applet) and then resuming result in normal sound operation. A potential hazard of this workaround is that the mouse pointer can "go crazy" after resuming resulting in all sorts of havoc - CTRL-ALT-BKSP bails out of this but is a little drastic just to have sound. The implication is that there is some sort of interaction between the power management and sound, but I am way too much a newbie to even begin to troubleshoot what this might be. If there are logs or configuration settings that I can provide that could give a clue to this behavior, let me know and I'll forward them.
