I wouldn't know about that. I've used update on mine since S.u.S.E.5.1. They should be installed under /usr/info and /usr/man. (The HOWTOs are under /usr/doc/howto.) On the first CD under /full-names/i386 there are two packages the manXXX.rpm and texinfoXXX.rpm (don't recall the version numbers, but you shouldn't have any trouble finding them).
