Worked Great! Still had to enter a password, but it wasn't necessary to know the root password. Actually, I think the first time through, it created the password from the one that I entered?
If you don't want to enter your password every time you run sudo, create a sudoers entry like this
0sers ALL=NOPASSWD:/sbin/shutdown -[hr] now
Now everybody who is in the users group can shutdown Linux.

Actually, the password bit don't really bother me too much, I only want one of two people to do the actual reboot (My wife or myself, so I would probably want to set it up 0arents ALL=NOPASSWD:/sbin/shutdown -[hr] now That is the group that only my better half and I am a member of (other than root:-) BTW, ever since I changed the sudo's file, I've noticed that my kids no longer have access to xterm. For some reason, a loc file is generated which is owned by root as soon as they log in (I've got them set up to go directly into Xfree and when they exit from Xfree, they are then automatically logged off. I've thought about doing the same thing for ginny and myself, but decided against it as there are times that I just like to roam around via the midnight commander:-) ginny, when she logs in generally sticks to xFree, but though I have shown her how to increase the size of some of the windows (the ones that would accept a dynamic font change) there are other windows that will not. I would like to set up Xfree so that it would go into 480x640 mode for her instead of the 720x1140? that I've grown accustomed to. At the same time, I would like to keep the same screen for the other users. Is there a way to do that? This especially applies to dosemu, (We run Quicken there, and though you can change the font in the launching window, the actual dos window is unchangeable). Oh yeah, that brings up another point, in terminal mode, (Quicken uses Control keys for shortcut keys - Ctrl-S for split) and everytime I do that in terminal mode, it locks up that terminal, is there a way to get around that minor problem? That way we can do the books in Terminal Mode instead of Xfree and she can then read the screen:-) Thanx Loads! cya l8r Leon McClatchey leonmcclatchey@homemail.com -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
