[opensuse] KDM and XDM

Hello list! I have just installed opensuse 11 and have tried to setup kdm, instead of xdm. I chose to use kdm and still xdm is running. I went to services and disabled xdm and I was dumped to the console. When I typed kdm it launched me back and I ended up with xdm still running. I have tried to change the background of the login screen and it is stuck on the suse green.
