-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ( suse-linux-e list, this is a letter to charlie@linuxiso.org, I'm just picking up the glove for SuSE Gmbh. ) Hi, Your page "http://www.linuxiso.org/suse.html" is in error. If you read the license again, you'll see that redstribution of YaST is forbidden only for a payment ( i.e., you CAN distribute it for free ) without the consent of SuSE Gmbh. Also, YaST is not GPL, and thus this restriction is only valid for YaST. This means that if you remove YaST from the SuSE distribution, you can sell it for a million dollars ( if you find someone to pay for it :-) Also, GPL is intended to protect and ensure your accessability to the sources of any program licensed with GPL that you may have aqquired. The implication does not extend to the media it is distributed on, nor to adjacent packages. Free implies "freedom to distribute, and to mutilate for personal useage", not free of charge. Oh... and notice that the personal and professional CD-ROMs as sold by SuSE may(do) contain proprietary programs, not written by SuSE, and in most cases VERY restrictive on distribution, so those CD's are probably not redistributable without breaking at least US law, and probably German law as well. English is a third language for me, so my writing may have something to be desired, but I figure I understand both these licenses well enough :-) - -tosi Disclaimer: I don't work for SuSE, nor do I have any gain from being pro-suse other than being supportive of a distro that I happen to like. My thoughts are my own. I have not sold my soul, and therefore I don't use Windows. ( tents and caves rule ! ;-) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE6uq6O6mRH+PEpr2YRAqT1AJ9oLM9b3ewJQuBwPfG/Y3wU3ft9JgCeK1XG H/xtvizQOgYKWhr49LlGCIM= =uzSU -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
