Is there a way of getting YaST to dump a list of software installed so it can install the same set on 2 other machines.
Ground Zero pointed out that you can try 'rpm -qa'
OK there's the list I wanted, where do I feed it in to get those RPMs on 2 other machines?
I can remember being able to dump and read software lists during installs, but how about on an already built system?
With apt, you can do this easily. To get just the package names (without version and release numbers): rpm -qa --queryformat '%{name}\n' > pkglist Then do the following: for pkg in `cat pkglist`; do apt-get install $pkg done Don't worry about packages that are already installed. They will either get updated to the latest version or apt will simply say "foo is already the latest version" Hope that helps. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+JrW5+FOexA3koIgRAk5LAJ4g3FmbQEgLz//0gfcMIOOZObgURQCgoYrF xYMDO/84b0+e+bHqNz+/vpo= =ypA7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
