So just to be a bit more sure: this is a fresh install of leap on a PC or a Laptop?
yes
What does mean "my password fails". That means you login and it gets all black screen with only the cursor or you stay at the login of sddm? I input the password in the graphical interface, the screen flashes and returns with the graphical interface asking for the password.
One bit of new information. If I enter the wrong password the screen flashes and returns with something like "password failed". If I enter the correct password the screen returns with the notation of wrong password.
Did you install with "update during installation" or did you just install from DVD and wanted to update later?
This is an option I was not aware of at the time of installation.
In case you did not update yet. Login in tty1 and su - then do zypper ref then zypper dup (provided that up to now you have only the default repos activated and provided you have a working internet connection. I will try the following commands: zypper ref zypper dup The last zypper command resulted in: Loading repository data ... Reading installed packages ... Computing distribution upgrade ... Nothing to do. Once done, try to restart the whole machine and to login. Made no difference in the login screen Ah, i forgott, there may be a keyboard layout problem. When loging in to sddm, did you check at the left in the upper screen that the right keyboard layout is supported? If your password has y and z inside try to invert them while login in, maybe it is just this little. I don't think it is a keyboard layout problem but the password does include the letter "z" so I'll give it a try. Login with replacing z with y resulted in the login screen displaying "Failed password"
Thanks for the info
