Hi all, I know this has been asked previously but I can't find it in my archives. I'm currently running SuSE 5.3 and just rcv'd. the subscription of 6.1. I intend to backup all the 'config' files and am asking would it be better to do a clean install or just the upgrade? I'd appreciate any feedback. I have visited the suse.de/Support/ site and found it very informative and a lot of 'look out for this', good stuff!
If you back up all your configuration files and are ready for a fresh install, you can as well try an update and let us know if it works (no problem doing the fresh install afterwards ;) FWIW: I updated my home machine from 4.3 to 6.0 and further to 6.1. I always let YaST write backups of the configuration files and didn't have major problems except it broke UUCP. My biggest problem was harddisk space. I needed to delete stuff on console 2 whilst YaST was installing on console 1. Seems I need a new machine ;) [...]
