I am trying out SuSe 5.3 and the default user wm seems to be kde. I am not impressed and would like to switch it to something else.
Where can I do this and would anyone suggest a wm that works well in suse. I alternately run gnome with the latest WindowMaker or E. If you

A particular pleasant set up is E with esd and transparent Eterm's and a themed gnome panel. It's a 'sweet suite'. Of the attempted NeXT look-alikes ( WM, AS, Bowman(old)) I prefer WM, cause it's fast, has a nice set of apps that were built with it in mind, like FSview,WMSound, and WMakerConfig, and is fairly stable. Configurability is a breeze with WindowMaker. AfterStep, however, I tend to dislike, though I am a AS user who later switched to WindowMaker, and I feel it's development in trying to please too many different people too much of the time has gotten bloated and unstable. Ice and blackbox are ugly but fast, and resource friendly. I've tried just about all of them, but always wind up with my old buddies, WindowMaker and Enlightenment. You can set your wm in your .xinitrc or set a global variable in profile to a universal default. There are so many wms now, and it all seems to come down to taste which one you use. Personally, I'd say try them all till you find one you prefer, cause just cause one of us likes one doesn't mean you will--look at all the people that love kde ( which I truly can't stand.) -M - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
