Thanks very much David for the information, those 'Transceivers' came in a large box of bits and pieces very cheaply from a junk shop. I found the info on making a cross-wired UTP cable in the Ethernet HOW-TO, I followed the instructions and crossed the short length of cable which I already have. Yesterday I managed to install S.u.S.E on an old 486 via NFS, (the old LMS cm205 CD-ROM in it isn't supported) this went well and the two machines are now talking to each other. Thanks again for all the useful info. -- Regards Jo ----------------------------------------------------------------------- For greater stability - Linux FreeBSD Unix. Why settle for less?
