In another list, there are references to putting things in the rc.local file. I don't seem to have one. Am I missing something here? Should i make one? It's supposed to be in /etc/rc.d.

Bob, Chapter 17 in the SuSE manual describes the boot sequence, boot directories and boot scripts in detail. A standard filesystem hiarchy doesn't exist right now (a committee is working on it) and distros can vary as to which directories contain what. /, /etc, /usr and some others are on all distros that I am aware of, but under the init.d subdir things can vary considerable. With SuSE the scrip 'boot.local' may be the equivilent of rc.local or, perhaps, on some systems it is ~/.profile.
