Hi again!
Thanks for that. select I tried it this way, only I used ftp://ftp.gwdg.de
I pinged this server from my command line, I get 134.76.11.100 and opened in in a browser with ftp://134.76.11.100
All of this works, but I don't get to the Directory question. I have a local network of 192.168.100.x with a static IP of 192.168.100.211, which I can't ping, if the machine's off (no double-up) in the network. I have a gateway at 192.168.100.1 and a nameserver at 192.168.100.2 (which I don't think I need).
Just to add to that: There is also a dhcp server in the network, and when I select "use dhcp", it goes straight to "IP address of FTP Server", so I suppose the network card is working it suse 8.2 as well. Jochen
Any other suggestions?
Jochen
