In fact I think it does: man systemd.automount The relevant text here is: FSTAB Automount units may either be configured via unit files, or via /etc/fstab (see fstab(5) for details). For details how systemd parses /etc/fstab see systemd.mount(5). I want it to re-read this file after I have edited it. As Per said, I will know it worked when I access the file system and trigger the automount. There are systemd-specific flags that can be added to /etc/fstab.
