I'm actually seeing significant problems with 4.6 B1, especially with regard to Dolphin and Kong. I've filed some bug reports, and am kind of in wait mode right now.
Start Dolphin. Close Dolphin. It won't start again. Works fine for root but nobody else.
I'm having issues here too... Start Dolphin and it can take up to 30 seconds to actually show the window... works as expected when open... exit and it crashes (shows the usual KDE crash handler). I can start it again without issues. Also once one Dolphin is open, I can open other Dolphin windows and they open quickly and close quickly and no crash... it's only the "first" one that is borked. Still poking the bug reports for similar.

My dolphin will show the window fairly rapidly, but I can never exit that window. If I do, I can't start dolphin again. So I have to remember to open dolphin and minimize it and leave it there. I can open other dolphin windows as long as I don't close the first one.
If I open a shell and launch dolphin from the shell I get this: ------------------------ jsa@poulsbo:~> dolphin kde(13624): Communication problem with "dolphin" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." " -----------------------
Googling found that if the file /etc/security/fileshare.conf had permissions of -rw------- Dolphin would only open the first time. All the other permissions in that directory were -rw-r--r-- so I also set that for fileshare.conf and now dolphin will both start up and shut down properly. (This also explains why it worked for root). I don't know if this is the correct solution or a dangerous hack, but it works. NOTE: The date on /etc/security/fileshare.conf was WAY BACK in 2009, so perhaps this was missed in the Beta 1 setup? -- Explain again the part about rm -rf / -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
