Up until yesterday, Kmail was receiving and sending mail from & to a free email account which offers POP3 facilities to collect mail using a email client. Today, however, Kmail keeps giving an error message that the connection with the SMTP server is broken. After downloading and installing Thunderbird, the same settings for the SMTP server were entered as for Kmail. Thunderbird works fine but Kmail does not. Kmail has been used for the last few years , in fact since SuSE 5. This is the first time any kind of error has occurred. In an attempt to resolve this issue, the SMTP and POP3 settings were deleted and entered again but to no avail. The POP3 server works fine, having the same address as the SMTP server. Mails can be collected but not sent. This has me stumped. Any ideas? Current software setup: SuSE version 9.0 Kmail version 1.5.4 (Standard version as provided on DVD and possibly updated using YOU). KDE 3.1.4 (Standard version as provided on DVD and possibly updated using YOU). At the moment Thunderbird is being used but it would be useful to resolve the issue with Kmail. TIA. LW999
