I have recently downloaded compupic and found that it has some nice features such as a slide show and a maxi show. But running compupic in order to look into its possibilities, I found that it practicably chokes my machine. I am running Sue 7.3 on a pentium II with 128 Mb of ram. My swap is 1084 MB (big enough ;-)). If compupic is working on a picture it is using up to 99 percent of the CPU and that over such a long period that I have never waited for the endresult.. What is wrong with my setup (or with compupic)? On Sunday 24 February 2002 11:00, Bryan Tyson wrote:

That is correct that some programs won't do it because of the patent. The free Linux version of Compupic is one I know of personally. If you pay the pretty reasonable purchase price (I think around $40, at least that's what it was last time I checked) that covers the cost of the royalties so the paid version will do gifs.
Interesting. Is there a linux version for sale? I once looked on their web page and found none.
Look here. It's the third one on the list.
