I am still getting a bunch of these errors on zypper dup. They are all related to the new rpm. I usually choose to keep the obselete version. Am I picking the wrong one ?
You will not be able to install anything that depends on the new RPM which includes zypper in the first place and likely will have more and more conflicts.
Problem: the installed perl-RPM2-1.4-1.27.x86_64 requires 'librpm.so.9()(64bit)', but this requirement cannot be provided deleted providers: rpm-4.18.0-6.2.x86_64
perl-RPM2 checks failed with new RPM (actually test script crashes). This program is 6 years old, so at some point it is expected to fail.
Do you need this package at all?
Probably not. So you are suggesting I delete it?
I do not suggest anything - I am not in position to tell you what you should do with your system. But you cannot really hold off upgrading such a low level package as RPM for a long time.
The above is only one of a bunch of errors I get all related to RPM. I am unsure how to deal with them when I am presented with multiple options.
It depends on what errors you get and what is the reason for them. I would wait for a week and try again. Maybe dust settles then.
Well that's the path I have been taking, hoping it will eventually work out. Thanks for your help
