Thanks Medwinz, I will take a look at the following links you sent. In the meantime I managed to resolve the problem by using the link below. http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AudioTroubleshooting Thanks all. On Sat, Feb 7, 2009 at 12:41 PM, medwinz <medwinz@gmail.com> wrote:

Hello all,
I have tried getting the sound working on my dell D630 with opensuse 11.1 BUT got no head way yet.
Below is what I have in the modprob.
<snip>
math:~ # more /etc/modprobe.d/sound
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel # u1Nb.0CMh_00Dca3:Dell Latitude D630 alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
</snip>
I think you should adjust the /etc/modprobe.d/sound file.
I have something similar here http://medwinz.blogsome.com/2008/12/26/workaround-for-sound-problem-on-opens...
Also install restricted format from community http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats
hope that helps
regards, medwinz
