Yes, you can use the boot.local solution or change the line in modules.conf to:
"alias scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi"
this maybe a little more elegant. I usually leave boot.local for system hacks if I can help it.

Seriously, for experienced users, it still isn't a problem, but I know a lot of people who have difficulties getting this done now.
