Ok all this talk about true type fonts and I want them. I'm looking for the difinitave answer. . .what is the best way to get them in KDE and Netscape. Do I need xfstt or is there a better solution?? If so where do I get it or what do I do? I've been looking since I read all this but I can't find it. Also if I need this to make my system look good and readable why isn't it on the CDROMs?
By far the easiest way is get an XServer with the xfstt extention stuff compiled in. You just plug it in over the top of your current XF86, set up the fonts directory and it works. I don't know if there's such a thing for SuSE (I use SuSE on my server which doesn't run X) but there is one for RHL5.1 which I've used for a long time, and it works a treat. IIRC the rpm only has one file in it (XF86_SVGA in my case) so it would almost certainly slot into SuSE without any trouble (but take backups of your current server and config first!).
