Your son must be right... very late 60's ;-) Now wait a minute. IBM introduced the original PC in 1981. Running PC/MS-Dos 1.0. Dos 5 came much later... I suspect late '80's or early '90s. DOS 6.22 was popular with Win 3.1 just about the time Win95 came out.
