My setup is a cdrw only. 52x24x52 as slave but I also tried it out with a 2x cdrom without succes also. Have not tried it as masteras that seems to make no big difference I asume.

Are you doing this on a CDROM or DVD/CDRW combo drive? I think there is a bug in the install process if you try with a combo drive and use the DVD. It will give the above.
Try passing (since you mentioned it is the slave) hdd=ide-scsi at the install boot prompt. I suspected the DVD/CDRW combo problem was because
