Hi I have had a strange problem where the Samba network just dies for no apparent reason; or should I say the clients are unable to connect to the server. This problem has happened twice - on both occasions over a weekend when there is no activity on the network at all. I am running SuSE 6.3. Below is the output of the warn log whcih I assume relates to the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. --------Start log-------------- Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: general protection fault: fff4 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: CPU: 0 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: EIP: 0010:[ext2_find_entry+191/752] Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: EFLAGS: 00010297 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: eax: c2645540 ebx: fffffff4 ecx: 0000000c edx: 0000000e Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: esi: c332faa0 edi: c3f74a00 ebp: c18dbf54 esp: c18dbe8c Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: Process nmbd (pid: 23558, process nr: 49, stackpage=c18db000) Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: Stack: c2645540 c18dbf54 83b10000 c18dbed0 00000000 2c783b10 448d507d c3f74a00 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: 00000000 247c8b00 448b5724 44892824 6a501024 00000011 00000202 00000001 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: c18da000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: Call Trace: [ext2_lookup+48/124] [real_lookup+85/132] [lookup_dentry+296/488] [open_namei+102/848] [filp_open+68/240] [sys_open+54/148] [system_call+52/56] Jul 30 17:16:49 samba kernel: Code: 07 7e 8e c7 44 24 1c 00 00 00 00 c7 44 24 20 00 00 00 00 8b ---------end log-------------- Grant R Walton New Creation Family Church PO Box 1638 Cresta South Africa 2118 Tel. +27-11-792-1151 <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.2722.2800" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hi</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have had a strange problem where the Samba network just dies for no apparent reason; or should I say the clients are unable to connect to the server.
