scilab and several of its dependencies are not available in 12.1 community repository. Any particular reason why support has been dropped?
Any chance they will get added over time or do I have to look for a manual solution to get scilab? I'm afraid installing them from the 11.4 Education repo will break some packages.
I don't know if you ever look in OBS, but it can instructive. First look at scilab in the education project: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=scilab&project=Education It says for the opensuse 12.1 is missing dependancies and it is not even trying to build. ie. "nothing provides flexdock, nothing provides jogl, nothing provides jeuclid-core, nothing provides jlatexmath" So its not that it's been disabled, etc. It's that it depends on those four things and they aren't building for some reason. So each of those has to build before scilab wiill try. I checked jogl as an example: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=jogl&project=Education It has a build failure. If you click on the user tab, it shows all the people that have the ability to work on that package https://build.opensuse.org/package/users?package=jogl&project=Education You'll see there is check mark beside andrea florio (anubisg1). I think that means he is the primary packager/maintainer. If you click on the envelop icon off to the far right of his name, you can send him an email and ask him for a status update on jogl and if he plans to fix the 12.1 build. Then repeat that process as needed. fyi: I seem to recall there is a mailinglist just for -education, but I could be wrong.
